What a warm welcome our delegation received at the airport and then at the school today! It was an action-packed day, and both students and teachers dove right in, fully engaging with the PAS community! I had the opportunity to meet today with both a PAS middle school math teacher (Lisa Novak) and a high school math teacher (Adriana Monge) here to plan for class explorations that I will be facilitating with students in grades 7-10. For students in grade 7, we will explore the concepts of domain and range associated with "real-world-scenario" functions. For students in grade 8, I will be engaging in two different explorations with the students. First, we will explore the process of graphing various functions and experimenting with parametric sensitivity analysis associated with those functions through playing the graphing game "Green Globs". Second, we will explore at a deep level the process of modeling and solving real-world scenario problems using linear inequalities in one variable. Finally, for students in grade 10, we will explore the concept of complex numbers and how to solve quadratic equations that have no real number solutions.
There you have it! Just planning at this stage...can't wait to get into the classroom with the students!
